Sudden Jihad Syndrome?

London - 22nd May 2013 - A passer by attempts to assist Fusillier Lee Rigby - murdered by two Muslim Jihadis

Or is it just

Jihad ?

Our western media and leaders react with horror to each new terrorist outrage and wonder where it came from, as if it had come totally out of the blue.

But they are surprised because they always fail to listen to the perpetrators, or to look at the evidence and refuse to contemplate the possibility of an entirely alien mindset at work. Either that, or the fear of suffering the wrath of offended Muslims causes them to retreat from the evidence.

On 22nd May 2013, the Jihadist murder of 25 year old British soldier, Lee Rigby, on the streets of London, outside Woolwich barracks , provided some especially pointed insights. The perpetrators stayed around to harangue the bystanders, explain their motives and be photographed and filmed.

It is interesting that overseas media referred to the soldier being beheaded, but British media were all too squeamish. They also refer to the men who carried out the attack, addressed the onlookers and demanded to be heard and photographed, as the alleged murderers!

Michael Adebolajo delivered this message to Britain.

"We killed this British man today because Muslims are dying daily by British soldiers and this British soldier is one, and it's an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. By Allah, we swear we will never stop fighting you until you leave us. Because we want to live by Sharia in Muslim lands, why does that mean you call us extreme and chase us and kill us? You lot are extreme, when you drop a bomb on us, it hits one person, or rather it wipes out a whole family. This is the reality. If I saw your mother today I would help her up the stairs; this is my nature. But we are forced by the Qur'an that we must fight them.... an eye etc. I apologise that women had to witness this today, but in our land women have to see the same. Remove your government! They don't care about you. Do you think David Cameron is going to get caught on the street when we start bustin our guns; do you think your politicians are going to die? No its the average guy like you and your children. So get rid of them. Tell them to bring our troops back. Leave our lands so we can all live in peace. That's all I have to say. And may Allah's peace and blessing be upon Mohammed. (ends with Arabic stuff)

Jay Smith, a Christian apologist and expert on discussing with Muslims, provided this explanation on the killing in Woolwich, in an interview on Trento TV, who also posted video of the event on "Trento TV - You Tube" (no longer available)

Woolwich Arsenal barracks is the base for troops going to, and returning from, Afghanistan. 25 year old Drummer Rigby had come back from Afghanistan.

Comments on the video

It is not a rant - He quotes "an eye for an eye." People think it's an Old Testament quote, but it's the Quran version that adds nose and tooth.

The killers ran the man down with a car - Sura 8:60 "and make ready all you can against them including steeds of war (includes tanks, planes, missiles) and whatever is at your disposal." (including a car)

Once he knocked him down, they started stabbing him. But look what they did. They cut off his head. Why did they cut off his head and then take the body and put it in the middle of the road so everybody could see this headless person? Why? Because of Sura 47 v4, which says very clearly, "cut off the heads of the unbelievers." The first three verses in that sura define who a believer is, and who an unbeliever is and then v4 says "cut off the heads of these unbelievers."

Why did he choose a soldier? That's very clear. In Sura 2 v190 to 199, "Fight in the cause of Allah, those who fight you , and slay them wherever ye catch them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out. For fitna (unbelief) is worse than slaughter. Fight them and slay them for such is the reward of them that suppress faith."

Sura 6 v36 "Fight the polytheists as they fight you altogether." (Christians are polytheists - believe in the trinity of Father son and Mary.)

Sura 2 v39 "Permission to fight is given to those who are fought against for they have been wronged and surely Allah is able to give them victory." Now notice this, they only killed that one man - didn't kill anybody else. They hung around. They waited for the police to come. They were not interested in killing anybody else - what they were interested in was getting filmed. Then they started repeating all these references.

"Us" - Who is "us"? - he means the ummah - the worldwide body of Muslim believers)

Ummah is an Arabic word meaning "nation" or "community". It is distinguished from Sha'b which means a nation with common ancestry or geography. Thus, it can be said to be a supra-national community with a common history. It is a synonym for ummat al-Islamiyah (the Islamic Nation), and it is commonly used to mean the collective community of Islamic peoples. In the context of Pan-Islamism and politics, the word Ummah can be used to mean the concept of a Commonwealth of the Believers (ummat al-mu min─źn). Wikipedia

Sura 5 v32 "Oh Israel, if one should take the blood of one, it is as if he takes the blood of all." He was interpreting it (same as Amjam Choudrey and his other teachers for 10 years) They say it refers to the blood of a Muslim in Chechnya ..... or Afghanistan. They say, "He who has taken the blood of a Muslim has taken the blood of all Muslims over here" Therefore, it says, "it is important that you save the blood of a Muslim in these places, because; in saving the blood of even one Muslim you have saved the blood of all Muslims."

He was repeating verses out of the Qur'an saying "You have gone over there and fought us in Afghanistan so he must kill you over here. But he doesn't want to kill everyone; he just wants to kill the soldier. He had to cut off the head and show it to the crowd and then he waited for the police to come. He said, "Call the police." It took them 15 minutes to get there. Why? we don't know.

As soon as the police arrived the two men rushed the cars and then the police shot them 8 times. They were hoping to die. Why?

Sura 47 v4-6 "....and he who participates in jihad, if he should die, great will be the reward in heaven." He was hoping to die. This is what a shahid does and goes straight to Heaven.

But Michael Adebolajo is an English man, with an English accent. (Grew up in Romford) However, he identifies with the Muslim in Afghanistan (or wherever) rather than being a Briton.

The weird thing about the video is how normal he was in his speech as people walked past him.

Remember Michael Adebolajo was a Christian. (brought up in a very strict Nigerian Christian family) When he started going off the rails, his parents moved away to Lincolnshire to get him away, but he came back, to Greenwich University, got converted, joined the mosque and joined the Mahajaroon party. A Christian man who becomes a Muslim - look what Islam has done to him!

They call him a radical, but he is just doing what it says in his holy book. Why call him radical?

If I follow what Jesus says in the Bible, I am being radical. If Michael Adabulaje does what his, smaller, holy book says he is radical - that is all radical means.

But Jesus never gave us the authority to go and convert people by the sword.

Sura 5 v45 "an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth" - but Jesus said, "You have heard it said, "an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth but I say, turn the other cheek"

Witnesses differ on whether the head was completely severed, but that was clearly the intention.

Self radicalisation ?

Where from?

Almost 43% to 49% of Muslims in UK follow this narrative (more in countries like Pakistan - 65%-to 72% )

This is nothing new and this should not surprise us - it is the power of this book (the Qur'an) - it is divine writ - it has always existed (Sura 85 v22 - it was never created) So when it was sent down piecemeal, over 22 years, to Mohammed, he did not create it or invent it. He just passed it on. Therefore this book is above criticism or questioning - you do nothing but obey it.

Violence in the Qur'an

In the Medina suras there are 149 violent verses. The, earlier, Mecca Suras are not so violent but they are abrogate by the later Medina suras.

What can be done?

By the Muslim Community

The first problem is in the word Community. Muslims regard themselves as a part of the worldwide Ummah (community) and not the Bradford, Stratford, East End community. Our leaders hear the word community and get warm fuzzy feelings of communities pulling together as during the Blitz of World War II. That is not the situation we face today. But our leaders are in thrall to Multiculturalism and are unwilling to acknowledge this basic problem.

Islamic leaders

We are constantly told that these Jihadists are the tiny lunatic fringe of Islam, but the leaders appear to be reluctant to accept the problem that this fringe is not tiny and it is not a fringe. The Jihadis are core, mainstream Qur'anic Islam. The Michael Adebolajo monologue (above) was all from the Qur'an. The gentle, moderate Muslim majority (?) could be seen as the lukewarm believers, comparable to lukewarm Christians. However, whereas lukewarm Christians might be re-awoken by getting back to what the Bible really says and means, It is the Jihadists who are closer to the Qur'an. How are the imams to win the radicals over to a lukewarm form of Islam?

Should the leaders turn the radicals over to the police? How could they deny the Muslim Ummah by turning their most ardent believers over to Infidel authorities? CCTV cameras were removed from a Muslim area of Birmingham after an uproar from the Muslims. Perhaps the old Muslim gentleman who was murdered in the Birmingham area would have been safer with CCTV; or at least his killer may have been caught.

While Ummah loyalties and worldview prevail, Islamic leaders will find it difficult to see a need to change.

Remember that Islam sees the whole world as being either Dar Es Salaam (House of peace - where Islam rules) or Dar El Harb (House of War - where Islam does not yet rule). Britain is in Dar El Harb while Syria, where 90,000 Muslims have died at the hands of other Muslims is in Dar Es Salaam. British soldiers are fighting in Afghanistan to protect Muslims from the the Muslim Taliban, who have just beheaded two boys for spying in the southern Afghan province of Kandaha - according to officials. The boys, 10 and 16, had been scavenging for food in bins near police headquarters when they were abducted. ( www.bbc.co.uk/news ) So British troops are infidels trespassing in the "House of Peace."

Every time there is a Jihadist event, the Muslim leaders make half-hearted expressions of sympathy and then seek to turn the narrative into one of Muslim victimhood for the anticipated backlash. The media and the police then happily proceed with that narrative.

So, the Muslim leadership is unlikely to achieve anything more than public hand wringing.

By The Government and the Police

How can secular organisations fight a religious war - especially while in thrall to a multiculturalist belief that being nice to each other will solve everything, and that their main function is to protect Muslims from whatever backlash is provoked by members of their own community ( Ummah )

The English Defence League appears to be an attempt at organised protest by young, white English men who see all the bodies responsible for the well-being of Britain hiding their heads in the sand to the problem of having a large community in our land that does not want to integrate, but to impose their ways and laws on England. Indeed in June 2013, not long after the Woolwich jihadi murder, six Muslims were sent to Jail for attempting to attack a EDL protest rally with guns, knives and a bomb. It was noticeable that the media coverage swiftly turned around to police and community spokesmen condemning the anticipated backlash; portraying the Muslims as victims.

Michael Adebolajo spoke of wishing to start a war, and obliging him by starting one would not be productive. But what can British people do democratically in this climate of multiculturalism.

Wildolive does not support the EDL, especially if as it is portrayed, it is a party of fascists. However, one must accept that at its core Islam is a fascist, totalitarian empire - not just a religion.

So, the government is unlikely to achieve anything more than public hand wringing.

By Christians / Churches

Firstly, Christians need to wake up to what is going on in the spiritual realms behind the incidents we see reported in our (secular) media.

How can we dialogue with the followers of a prophet who came after Jesus. Jesus is/was God's last word and is The Way, The Truth and The Life. The book of Revelation makes it clear that we followers of Jesus are not to accept any new-improved versions, or another gospel. A central Muslim ( Qur'an ) belief is that "Allah has no son." while Christians believe Jesus the Messiah is God's son and His last prophet.

If we Christians were as radical as the jihadis we would be laying down our lives to reach out and save the Muslims from bondage to another god and another prophet. While Radical Islam kills unbelievers, Radical Christianity reaches out to comfort, save and heal the unbelievers. The mum who ignored the danger posed by the two jihadis in Woolwich to try and comfort the dying soldier is an example of Christianity in action.

If we, in our churches, would accepted the spiritual realities of the situation we would be ardent in prayer and mission action/support to reach the world's billion plus Muslims before they pass into eternity and find out that they had been misled all along. As discussed above, the Woolwich Jihadists believed they were fulfilling the requirements of the Qur'an and, when the police they wanted summoned arrived and shot them, they would die martyr's deaths (become Shaheeds) and go straight to Heaven / Paradise.

Within their belief set there can not be anything more radical or sensible than deliberately seeking death in battle for Islam in order to go straight to heaven. Nobody does that unless he has a cast iron belief in his reward. Nothing but the work of the Holy Spirit can break through such certainty.

Jesus said, ( Matthew_12:29)

"Or again, how can someone break into a strong man's house and make off with his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man? After that he can ransack his house. "
To break into Allah's house and carry off converts will take serious and concerted intercession from the church; not interfaith forums .

One useful first step would be listening to David Pawson's "The Challenge of Islam to Christians". It first came out on six audio cassettes and is still available at 16.50 GB pounds but is now available as on six CDs at 22.50 GB pounds. It is also available as a book for 8.99 GB pounds. www.anchor-recordings.com

Lee Rigby verdict

Two men have been found guilty of murdering soldier Lee Rigby outside Woolwich barracks in south-east London in May.

Michael Adebolajo, 29, and Michael Adebowale, 22, struck Fusilier Rigby with a car before hacking him to death.

Adebolajo had claimed he was a "soldier of Allah" and the killing was an act of war.

The men were found not guilty of attempting to murder a police officer at the scene.

The Old Bailey jury of eight women and four men took approximately 90 minutes to reach its verdicts.

They had heard that Adebolajo and Adebowale drove a car into Fusilier Rigby at 30-40mph, before dragging him into the road and attacking him with knives and attempting to decapitate him with a meat cleaver.

Mr Justice Sweeney ordered that the verdicts be heard in silence. He said he would pass sentence after a key appeal court ruling on the use of whole life terms in January.

He expressed his "gratitude and admiration" for the soldier's family, saying they had "sat in court with great dignity throughout what must have been the most harrowing of evidence".

As the defendants were taken out of the courtroom, Adebolajo kissed his Koran and raised it in the air.

The jury heard the men chose their victim because he was "the soldier that was spotted first". The attack occurred on a busy street, witnessed by shocked onlookers. A number of women - such as Amanda Donnelly-Martin - approached Fusilier Rigby, who was lying in the road, and attempted to comfort him, but he was already dead. Adebolajo handed Ms Donnelly-Martin a handwritten letter containing a speech about fighting "Allah's enemies" and bringing "carnage" to London's streets.

The two men denied attempting to kill police, saying they had wanted armed officers to shoot them dead so they could "achieve martyrdom". Meanwhile, an investigation by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has concluded the police officers who shot the men "acted appropriately to the immediate threat" posed.

Private Lee Rigby, 25, was attacked as he returned to the Woolwich barracks in south London in May. His killers drove a car into him, breaking his back, and then stabbed him and almost severed his head.

As the details of the brutal attack began to be pieced together through eyewitness accounts and tweeted photographs and video clips, shocking footage was broadcast by ITV News of Adebolajo, holding a knife and a cleaver and with bloody hands, directly addressing the camera and attempting to justify the murder "because Muslims are dying daily", in language echoing the language of violent jihad. "This British soldier is an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth," the murderer said.

The two killers stayed at the scene for several minutes, waiting for police to arrive. They then rushed at the officers, who shot them.

They were the first Islamist terrorists in Britain to plot murder, kill their victim and survive to answer questions.

Here are David Cameron's comments in full:

The whole country was completely shocked by the murder of Lee Rigby, and the whole country united in condemnation of what happened, and I'm sure everyone will welcome these verdicts today. I think it also shows that we have to redouble our efforts to confront the poisonous narrative of extremism and violence that lay behind this and make sure we do everything to beat it in our country.

Home secretary Theresa May said "The sickening and barbaric murder of Drummer Lee Rigby united the entire nation in condemnation and I welcome the jury's decision. But we must not forget that this appalling and public act of violence and terror also robbed his family and loved ones of a brave, young man with his life ahead of him. My thoughts are with them at this difficult time. Violence and extremism of any kind have absolutely no place in our society and cannot be justified. In the wake of Lee Rigby's murder, the prime minister set up the Extremism Task Force, which recently announced new measures to tackle extremism and radicalism across the UK. We have some of the toughest counter-terrorism laws in the democratic world and we are resolute in our determination to counter the threats to our way of life posed by extremist behaviour and ideologies.

Counter-terrorism chief Assistant Commissioner Cressida Dick said:

We are pleased that justice has been done. At this very difficult time our thoughts are with Lee's family and all those who knew and loved him. This horrific attack and murder, which took place in broad daylight on the streets of London, shocked the whole country. It was intended to divide our communities. It has had largely the opposite effect and in fact brought people together.

The court heard of extraordinary acts of courage and compassion from members of the public at the time of this dreadful incident. The Metropolitan police counter-terrorism command and our UK CT policing network carried out a lengthy and thorough investigation. We were of course supported by our colleagues in the British security service and the intelligence agencies. We have worked closely with the Crown Prosecution Service and counsel ...

Of course, we utterly respect the court's decision, finding the two men not guilty of attempted murder of a police officer. But I would also like to pay tribute to those firearms officers who were faced with a terrifying situation and displayed extreme courage and professionalism.

Farooq Murad, secretary general of the Muslim Council of Britain, said: "Muslim communities then, as now, were united in their condemnation of this crime. This was a dishonourable act and no cause justifies cold-blooded murder."

The Sentence

Michael Adebolajo has been given a whole-life term and Michael Adebowale has been jailed for a minimum of 45 years for murdering Fusilier Lee Rigby.

As Mr Justice Sweeney began to sentence the men they started shouting and scuffling with court security guards. They had to be forced to the ground and were removed from court.

Fusilier Rigby's family wept as Adebolajo shouted "Allahu Akbar", and Adebowale called out "that's a lie" as the judge told them their extremist views were "a betrayal of Islam".

Mr Justice Sweeney said the pair carried out the murder "in a way that would generate maximum media coverage".

Speaking outside court, Det Insp Pete Sparks, police liaison officer for Fusilier Rigby's family, read a short statement on behalf of the family saying "no other sentence would have been acceptable".

Sue Hemming, head of special crime and counter terrorism at the Crown Prosecution Service, said Adebolajo and Adebowale had "revelled in one of the most appalling terrorist murders I have seen". "Not only was the attack brutal and calculated; it was also designed to advance extremist views," she said.
